Saving a Pelican.

I helped to save a Pelican today. It was a brown pelican. Young, and hurt badly. Probably injured in the storms we have had recently. We had to 'wrangle' him with a bucket and a blanket in the dark. It's quite a feat to catch a Pelican out on the open beach at night. And they get awfully cranky about being cornered. Their bills snap shut with a very very LOUD 'FWAP!' But he is now on his way to the rescue shelter.
update: heard that he will make a full recovery!
